The upcoming Big Bash League Draft will see the eight participating clubs competing to sign top T20 cricketers from around the world. A total of 593 cricketers, including 432 men and 161 women from 30 different nations, have been nominated for the draft. The drafts will take place this weekend in Melbourne, with the WBBL Draft starting at 3pm AEST followed by the BBL Draft. Both drafts will be broadcast live on Fox Cricket and Kayo Sports.

The format for both drafts is similar, with clubs taking turns to select players across four rounds. Each club must select a minimum of two new players during the draft, with players nominating their desired salary band. The salary bands range from Platinum to Bronze, with different rounds allocated for each band. Additionally, clubs must use one of their picks for a pre-draft overseas player. Each club can select up to four players, with one serving as an overseas replacement player.

The pick order for the drafts was determined by a weighted lottery, and pick swaps have already taken place between clubs. Additionally, clubs were allowed to sign overseas players on multi-year deals before the drafts this season. The WBBL and BBL squads have also been announced, with a mix of local and international talent set to compete in the upcoming tournaments.
