Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer, made history on Sunday by becoming the second-highest wicket-taker in the Indian Premier League (IPL). With three wickets against Delhi Capitals, he now has a total of 193 wickets in 185 innings, surpassing Piyush Chawla’s record of 192 wickets from 191 innings. Yuzvendra Chahal holds the top spot with 214 wickets from 167 innings.

The 35-year-old Bhuvneshwar previously played for Sunrisers Hyderabad before joining RCB this season. During his time with Sunrisers, he took 157 wickets. He also had a brief stint with Pune Warriors India, where he claimed 24 wickets in 31 appearances.

Notably, Bhuvneshwar has won the prestigious Purple Cap twice, in the 2016 and 2017 seasons, making him one of only three players to achieve this feat twice. The other two players who have won the Purple Cap twice are Dwayne Bravo and Harshal Patel.

Bhuvneshwar’s impressive performance in the IPL has solidified his reputation as one of the top bowlers in the league.
