An FIR has been registered against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru IPL franchise, DNA Entertainment Pvt Ltd, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association by the Cubbon Park Police for culpable homicide and other serious charges. The complaint, filed by Police Inspector Girish A. K., lists charges under various sections including culpable homicide, voluntary causing hurt, and endangering human life due to recklessness or negligence. The incident occurred after RCB’s victory celebration, where thousands of fans gathered at the stadium. Despite the police denying a request for a victory celebration due to security and traffic concerns, the event was still announced on social media. An emergency meeting was held to address security measures and traffic arrangements, but the confusion over crowd management led to more gates being opened, resulting in a stampede. Tragically, 11 people died and 64 were injured, including some police personnel. The Karnataka High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the case and has requested a status report from the State, with the next hearing scheduled for June 10. The police had to work hard to control the unruly crowd and prevent further incidents.
