Following India’s disappointing performance in the Border-Gavaskar trophy series and failure to qualify for the World Test Championship final, the BCCI is eager to improve the team’s red-ball cricket performance. To achieve this, they are planning to keep players like Rohit Sharma engaged in Test cricket during the IPL 2025 season. The BCCI aims to prepare the Indian squad for the upcoming tour of England, which is part of the 2025/27 WTC campaign. Despite traditionally not interfering with players’ responsibilities during the IPL, the BCCI is considering implementing a new plan due to recent Test series defeats and poor performances. While specific details of the plan remain confidential, discussions have already commenced, with additional meetings scheduled after the ICC tournament.
