The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season is set to kick off on March 22 with a match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Eden Gardens. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued new guidelines for all ten franchises regarding practice sessions. Teams are now limited to seven practice sessions before their opening match, with only two allowed to be warm-up games or centre-wicket training sessions. The directive aims to maintain the pitch and ground in optimal condition for the league.

Additionally, no practice sessions or matches are permitted on the main square four days before a franchise’s first home match of the season. If both home and away teams wish to practice simultaneously, the BCCI will mediate to ensure fair scheduling. The season will feature 74 matches across 13 venues, with Playoffs scheduled in Hyderabad and Kolkata. Safety measures include restricting access to the Field of Play during practice sessions to players, team support staff, and net bowlers only.

The BCCI’s strict guidelines are aimed at ensuring a smooth and successful IPL 2025 season, with a focus on maintaining pitch quality and player safety.
