The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League concluded with Royal Challengers Bengaluru winning their first IPL title by defeating Punjab Kings in the final in Ahmedabad. IPL 2025 entertained audiences for over two months and generated significant revenue for all stakeholders.
BCCI’s revenue from IPL 2025 can be broken down as follows:
– Broadcast Fee: The total broadcast fee for IPL 2025 was Rs. 9678 crore, approximately 130.7 crore per game. Star Sports acquired the television rights while Viacom18, owned by Reliance Industries Limited, secured the digital rights. The number of advertisers in IPL 2025 increased by 27% to 105.
– Title Sponsorship Fee: The Tata Group extended its title sponsorship of the IPL from 2024 to 2028 for INR 2500 crore, amounting to Rs. 500 crores per season. Other sponsors for IPL 2025 included My11Circle, Angel One, RuPay, CEAT, Wonder Cement, and Aramco.
– Revenue share with teams: IPL teams generate revenue through ticket sales, merchandise, advertising, and sponsorships. BCCI receives a share of 20% of central revenue, sponsorship, and ticketing revenue, and 12.5% of licensing revenue from each team. BCCI also provides each team Rs. 425 crores as fixed central revenue and variable revenue based on league position.
In the 2024 financial year, BCCI reported a revenue of Rs. 20,686 crore, up from Rs. 16,493 crores in the previous year. The success of IPL 2025 showcased the league’s ability to attract audiences and generate substantial revenue for all involved parties.
