The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shortlisted Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad as potential venues to host the remainder of the IPL 2025 season if the Indian government allows the tournament to resume in May. The decision comes after the 18th edition of the T20 tournament was suspended due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. Eden Gardens, initially set to host the final, may not have that opportunity anymore. Franchise officials have been informally informed about the potential decision, with some suggesting that the season could be postponed to a later date if necessary. One of the main challenges for the BCCI would be to bring back overseas players who have already begun to return to their home countries. As of now, there is uncertainty about whether all overseas stars will be willing to return for the tournament in May. With 12 league matches and four playoff games remaining, a quick decision is needed to resume the tournament, especially with the World Test Championship final scheduled for June 11.
