The recent ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan has brought a temporary halt to the heavy exchange of fire between the two nations, prompting the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to assess the situation before resuming the Indian Premier League (IPL). The IPL was suspended for a week on Friday, and now the BCCI is in a wait-and-watch mode.

Sources have indicated that the BCCI has informally reached out to stakeholders and is closely monitoring the situation. The revised schedule is expected to be announced in a day or two, possibly after a scheduled meeting between the DGMOs of the two countries on Monday. All players, including foreign players, have left the country, and it may be a challenge to convince them to return.

The safety of everyone involved is a top priority for the BCCI, and they will make a decision in the best interest of the game and the country after assessing the situation and consulting with the government. If the situation remains normal, the IPL could possibly resume around May 17 or 18, with a potential increase in double headers to complete the tournament by the end of the month.

The BCCI is considering both sticking to the old venues and moving matches to the south and east. Franchise sources have not formally heard anything from the BCCI yet, but some are already preparing for the potential resumption of the IPL. The decision on when and how to resume the IPL will depend on the evolving situation and ensuring the safety of all involved.
