Harry Brook, an England batter, has been given a two-year ban from the Indian Premier League (IPL) by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after withdrawing from the upcoming 2025 season. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) was informed of this decision. According to a report, both Brook and ECB were aware of the BCCI’s policy regarding overseas players skipping an IPL season after being contracted. The new IPL rule states that any player who withdraws after being picked in the auction will be banned from participating in the tournament for two seasons.

Brook, who was bought by Delhi Capitals for INR 6.25 crore in the previous auction, cited the need to focus on his commitments with the England team as the reason for his withdrawal. He expressed his love for cricket and the importance of playing for his country. Brook had also pulled out of the 2024 IPL season due to personal reasons. In his IPL career, which began in 2023 with Sunrisers Hyderabad, he scored 190 runs in 11 matches, including a century. Despite the backlash he may receive, Brook remains focused on representing England and is grateful for the opportunities he has been given.
