The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the addition of nine new players to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction. This decision came after an error was discovered in which a contracted Indian player was wrongly listed as a local player. The new players include Swastik Chikara, Virandeep Singh, Manisankar Murasingh, Chama Milind, K.L. Shrijith, Ethan Bosch, Chris Green, Rahul Raj Namala, and Virat Singh.

The final auction list now consists of 359 players, with 247 Indian players and 112 overseas players. Only 77 players will secure new IPL contracts, with 31 of them being overseas players. Kolkata Knight Riders have the highest purse of INR 64.30 crore, while Chennai Super Kings have INR 43.4 crore to fill their nine vacant slots.

The BCCI rectified the error by correctly classifying Delhi-born Nikhil Chaudhury, who has played professional cricket in Australia and achieved significant milestones in overseas leagues. Chaudhury was incorrectly listed as an Indian player in the original IPL 2026 auction list, but the error was corrected in the revised list released by the BCCI.
