The upcoming 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will see a new generation of captains leading the teams. Axar Patel was recently announced as the captain of Delhi Capitals, completing the list of all ten confirmed leaders for the IPL 2025 season. The only overseas captain this season is Pat Cummins, with the remaining nine captains being Indian players.
Some notable captains include Ajinkya Rahane leading Kolkata Knight Riders, Rishabh Pant as captain of Lucknow Super Giants, and Shreyas Iyer now leading Punjab Kings. The IPL 2025 season will kick off on March 22, with 74 matches scheduled across 13 venues, including 12 double-headers. The tournament opener will be between KKR and RCB at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
The playoffs will be held in Hyderabad and Kolkata, with the final set to take place at Eden Gardens. The tournament promises exciting matchups and intense competition as teams vie for the coveted IPL title.
