Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has expressed his satisfaction with his decision to withdraw from the Indian Premier League (IPL) following the tensions between India and Pakistan last month. The IPL was suspended on May 9 due to the hostilities between the two countries, but resumed on May 17 after a ceasefire agreement was reached.

While most foreign IPL players returned to complete their commitments, Starc and his Delhi Capitals teammate Jake Fraser-McGurk chose not to participate further in the league. Starc stated that he had concerns leading up to the match against Punjab Kings on May 9 near the Pakistan border and felt that the events that unfolded played a role in his decision to withdraw.

Starc, who had previously opted out of the Champions Trophy in Pakistan for personal reasons, emphasized that his decision to leave the IPL was due to the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the situation. He reaffirmed his commitment to the Delhi Capitals team and expressed his willingness to accept any repercussions that may arise from his decision.

The 35-year-old bowler highlighted that he had carefully considered the situation before making his choice and is prepared to move forward regardless of the outcome. Starc emphasized that his decision was based on individual circumstances and that he remains dedicated to his international cricket career.
