The bidding war for Nabi started with Delhi Capitals making the first move at his base price of Rs. 30 lakh. Rajasthan Royals dropped out early as the price soared past Rs. 1 crore. Royal Challengers Bengaluru then joined the fray, leading to a back-and-forth battle with Delhi Capitals as the bidding surpassed Rs. 2 crore. Sunrisers Hyderabad briefly entered the scene at Rs. 2.2 crore, but Delhi Capitals remained determined and eventually secured Nabi for Rs. 8.40 crore.

Nabi, aged 29, is known for his ability to swing the new ball and is equally effective with the old one. His recent performances in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy have been impressive, following a successful start to the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy season. During the Ranji Trophy, he emerged as one of the top wicket-takers, with standout performances including a remarkable 7 for 24 against Rajasthan.
