In March 2017, Karun Nair played his last game for India, and after eight years, he scored his first IPL half-century in Delhi. Despite being out of the limelight, Nair continued to perform well, scoring plenty of runs in domestic matches and emerging as the highest run-scorer in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Despite his impressive performances, Nair has not been able to break into the Indian team since his Test triple-century. Former India player Ambati Rayudu hopes Nair gets his due recognition and praises his persistence and hard work. With India set to tour England for a five-Test series, Rayudu believes Nair could be a valuable asset given the struggles of Indian batters in Australia. Rayudu hopes Nair will be included in the squad for the England tour, as he has not given up on his dream of making a successful comeback in Test cricket. Nair was part of the 2018 Test tour of England but did not get a chance to play.
