Chris Lynn, the all-time leading run-scorer in the Big Bash League, has committed to the entire season with the Adelaide Strikers, providing a significant boost to the South Australian franchise. The 34-year-old Queenslander, who has represented Australia in both ODIs and T20Is, has signed a one-year deal with the Strikers that includes availability for the finals. Lynn, who previously played for the Brisbane Heat for 11 years, joined the Strikers in the 2022/23 season and has been in impressive form, scoring 720 runs at an average of 48.00 with a strike rate of 150.00 in 18 matches. Despite his strong performances, Lynn has not been available for finals in the past two BBL seasons due to commitments with the Gulf Giants in the UAE’s ILT20.
The Strikers felt his absence keenly last season, suffering a defeat in the Challenger match against the Brisbane Heat. However, after not being retained by the Giants, Lynn has committed to the entire 2024/25 season with the Strikers. Lynn expressed his excitement about rejoining the team and playing in front of the Strikers’ fans at Adelaide Oval, confident that they can achieve even greater success this season. His 3725 career runs and 208 sixes remain records in the Big Bash League. Strikers Interim General Manager Shaun Williams praised Lynn’s leadership and experience, highlighting his impact on the team both on and off the field.
The Strikers, who last won a BBL title in 2018, are looking to challenge for the championship in BBL|14. Their season kicks off on Tuesday, December 17, against the Sydney Thunder at Manuka Oval in Canberra.
