Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has expressed his desire to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the 2026 edition of the tournament. Amir, who has retired from international cricket, is looking to obtain a UK passport through his wife, allowing him to participate in the IPL as a foreign player. During an interview on the show “Haarna Mana Hai,” Amir confirmed his aspirations to play in the IPL and praised Indian batsman Virat Kohli for gifting him a bat in the past.
Acknowledging the restrictions on Pakistani players in the IPL, Amir mentioned the involvement of former Pakistani cricketers in the league, such as Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja. He expressed his willingness to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL and Pakistan opener Ahmed Shehzad supported his potential impact on the franchise, stating that RCB would win the title if Amir joins their team.
While Amir did not directly address potential backlash from playing in the IPL in Pakistan, he emphasized his focus on playing cricket and his admiration for Kohli’s batting skills. Overall, Amir is eager to participate in the IPL and contribute to a successful campaign for RCB.
